Mexico City has been going through a major moment along with Tulum. If you prefer the kinds of spots that are a little less obvious, ones that show more local flavour, then book your next flight to CDMX (Ciudad de Mexico).

We know it’s hard to take time off from work but trust us when we say that a short little weekend trip is still worth it! If all you have is 2 or 3 days, visit Roma Norte- a picturesque neighbourhood in CDMX that is an Instagram influencer’s dream. It has an effortlessly cool and captivating vibe with its tree-lined streets, colonial architecture, sidewalk cafes, vintage shops, and beautiful parks.

Here are Perks’ absolute favs in Mexico City’s Roma Norte for café hopping, vintage shopping, fine dining, hotels and nightlife.

Trendy Cafe in Mexico City

Panaderia Rosetta is the perfect cafe to start your day at. They are a quaint bakery offering delectable treats with tons of outdoor seating, making it a prime location for people-watching. The guava pastry is a must-try!

Shopping in Mexico City

If you’re roaming the streets of Roma Norte, it’s hard not to wander your way into Roma Quince. The store itself is beautifully set inside a townhouse and carries tons of artisanal goods. Known as a concept store curated by local Mexican designers, you’ll find home décor, textiles, tableware, clothing, and packaged foods. Snag something to bring back and keep in your home forever!

Dining in Mexico City

For an unforgettable dining experience, make a reservation at Restaurante Rosetta. Filled with large indoor trees and walls lined with ivy, it is one of the world’s top 50 restaurants. The chefs here have a deep respect for locally sourced ingredients which pay homage to true Mexican cuisine. A breathtaking meal for your senses and soul is an understatement.

Staying in Mexico City

The Brick Hotel is our recommendation if you’re looking for a posh and lively place to stay. They have a great vibe going on at their rooftop bar, Terraza 95. Expect to find a mix of laidback guests and stylish neighbourhood residents knocking back mezcal cocktails until sunset. And their rooms, oh my gosh, their rooms are giving chic and bougie!

Nightlife in Mexico City

To end your night, be sure to swing by Mama Rumba. They have a live band and are arguably the best salsa bar in the city. Don’t be intimidated by the amount of spicy energy you feel when you walk in, get up and dance the night away! They also offer salsa classes on Thursday evenings for anyone wanting to get a lesson in before showing off their dance moves.
